When I left Mauritius to come to Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences as it was known than in 1997, I was impressed in my choice of University due to its long history (founded in 1866). Upon joining it, I found that it had nothing to envy with the European level of teaching. After graduation and starting to work, I corrected several cases that my colleagues thought impossible. The professors allocated for each subject are all well experienced. Right since the second half of the second year, we are taken to hospitals to learn the basic skill of clinical practice like history taking, case discussion etc. and there are enough practical classes for enriching our knowledge on different subjects related to medicine. I am quite impressed by the extra care given to the foreign students and the enthusiastic and helpful teachers. I hope I will be able to put the knowledge and experience gained in Sun Yat-sen University for my professional medical career.

The teachers are well experienced and give us good guidelines to build our medical background. Professors in the hospitals have been guiding us a lot to acquire clinical knowledge along with theoretical base.
