About Sun Yat-sen University:
Sun Yat-sen University was founded in 1924 by Dr.Sun Yat-sen, a great democratic revolutionary leader of the 20th Century. It is located in Guangzhou, neighboring HongKong and Macao. Its original name was Guangdong University. In 1926 it was renamed Sun Yat-sen University in memory of its founder. Approved by the Central Government of China, on October 26, 2001, the former Sun Yat-sen University and the former Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences were merged into a new Sun Yat-sen University. Sun Yat-sen University is among top ten Universities (out of more than 1000) in China. Sun Yat-sen University is a “211 Project” and “985 Project” University directly administered by Ministry of Education of China.

This is among the highest level of medical institutions in China to teach MBBS in English medium to overseas students .

It has four Campuses- The Guangzhou North Campus for the students of medical sciences, The Guangzhou South Campus for the postgraduates of liberal arts and Sciences and part of the senior students for undergraduate programs, The Guangzhou East Campus and The Zhuhai Campus for most of the students of undergraduate programs in the field of liberal arts and science.

Sun Yat-sen University has 8 affiliated hospitals, 6 among them are evaluated by the State Health Ministry as the first-grade hospitals of China-the First, Second and Third Affiliated Hospitals, the Ophthamology Hospital, the Oral Cavity and the Oncology Hospital. They not only offer a high quality service to the society, but also are the teaching and practicing bases for the medical students.

Situated in the downtown of Guangzhou, the North Campus (Campus for Medical Sciences) has a total area of 0.39 square km. In 1886, Dr. Sun Yat-sen studied medicine here. On this campus there are post graduates and senior undergraduates for medical sciences. The medical school of Sun Yat-sen University (former Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences), originated from former South China Medical College, has a history of more than 140 years.

Sun Yat-Sen university Medical School was the first medical school practicing western medicine in China.

Subjects for MBBS Program:
Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Histology Embryology, Pathology, Pathophysiology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Community medicine (Subjects for the first two years).General medicine, General surgery, Obstetrics and gynecology, Forensic medicine, Community medicine, Epidemiology, Pediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Dentistry, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Nuclear medicine, Emergency medicine and other alliend medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties (for the last three years). The students will go for rotatory internship in the 6th year after completing all the MBBS courses.

Fee structure:
The University has offered subsidized or discounted free to the international students for MBBS study.
Tuition Fee:
34000RMB/annum (approx. USD 5200/annum)
Hostel Fee:
4800RMB/annum ( approx. 730 USD/annum )
Application fee:
RMB 800/annum (approx. USD
120/annum ) (one time payment in the first year only)

The above fees should be paid to the university directly, in cash or by money drat in the name of the university. The University and its authorized representative will not be responsible for any fees handed to the unauthorized institution or a person. In addition to the above fee the students have to pay for their food by themselves. The food expense depends upon the individual. It is estimated around USD 700/annumm for an individual.

Note 1: The tuition fee does not cover the expenses for text books and stationeries.

Note 2: Each room of the hostel is provided with Airconditioner, TV and a telephone set. The students pay by themselves for water, electricity and cable TV which is between USD 50 to 100 per annum. The students can also opt for out campus housing after the first year.

Note 3: Health Insurance is compulsory and it may cost about USD 80/annum.

Note 4: The residence permit charge is RMB 400/annum or approximately USD 50/annum.
