About Guangzhou Medical University(GMU)
Guangzhou Medical University (GMU), founded in 1958, situated near the Liuhua Lake Park in the center of Guangzhou, is a full-time medical University. GMU is qualified by Ministry of Education, China to recruit international medical students in English.
Guangzhou Medical University is composed of four campuses,The Main Campus is located in Dongfeng Xi Road and the other three campus seperately located in Longdong,Haizhu and Jianggao Conghua.

 There are 15 full time undergraduate medical programs, including

There are 7 affiliated hospitals of Guangzhou Medical University for clinical practice of our students:

THE 1ST HOSPITAL AFFILIATED TO GMU: is a tertiary hospital with more than 1400 patient-beds, renowned for excellence in treating respiratory diseases with a state key-lab, the Respiratory Diseases Research Institute. As one of the teaching hospitals of GMU,It has the 1st Clinical School of GMU with four departments:The 1st Clinical Department, Medical Laboratory,Oral Medicine and Western Medicine in Clinical Medicine,all of which undertake the clinical teaching.
		THE 2ND HOSPITAL AFFILIATED TO GMU: is a first-rate hospital with more than 1,000 patient-beds. It offers excellent treatment of neuropathy, cardiovascular diseases, common surgeries and anaphylactic reaction. The 2nd Clinical School in the 2nd Hospital Affiliated to GMU undertakes the clinical teaching,in which there are four departments: the 2nd Clinical Department, Medical Imaging, Anesthesiology and Rehabilitation Therapy Department.
THE 3RD HOSPITAL AFFILIATED TO GMU: comprises two major components: a maternity institution of Guangzhou and an emergency center for saving as well as treating the pregnant and the parturient. It is a tertiary hospital with more than 700 patient-beds.The 3rd Clinical School in the the 3rd Hospital Affiliated to GMU undertakes the clinical teaching task of Clinical Medicine,Preventive Medicine and Psychology.
			AFFLIATED CANCER HOSPITAL: a tertiary hospital with more than 500 patient-beds, is a specialty hospital providing outstanding patient care for cancer patients.
YANGCHENG HOSPITAL: is specialized in dentofacial surgery, orthodontic surgery, restorative dentistry and oral care. There are more than 70 patient-beds now.
			LIWAN HOSPITAL AFFILIATED TO GMU: is known for its treatment in operating on sleep apnea syndrome and in treating osteopathy. There are more than 400 patient-beds.
GANGWAN HOSPITAL: a secondary hospital with more than 222 patient-beds, offers a wide variety of services including Rehabilitation Medicine and primary care for all ages.

In the past several years, GMU has successively communicated in terms of academic affairs with many foreign universities and built up the good cooperation with the universities and research institutes which include:

MBBS in English  for foreign students:
The Ministry of Education, China announced strict measures known as "Interim Provisions for Quality Control Standards on Undergraduate Medical Education in English for International Student in China" in the year 2007 and since then it has been publishing the name list of medical schools  which have been qualified to recruit international MBBS students in English medium.

Course duration:
As per criteria led down by MOE, China, Course duration for MBBS in English medium is 6 years which includes one year internship in the affiliated hospitals of GMU.

Is Guangzhou Medical University a government or a private Medical University ?
Guangzhou Medical University is a government university. It is under Gunagdong Provincial Government.

Where is GMU located ?
GMU is located in the heart of Gunagzhou city, about 45 minutes drive from Biyun International Airport and about 20 minutes drive from Guangzhou East Railway station.

Do students need to study Chinese language course ?
Although the MBBS courses are taught in English medium proficiency of Chinese language is a must in order to communicate with the Chinese patients in the hospital as well as for convenient living in China.
GMU arranges Chinese language course, free of cost, along with the MBBS courses in English medium.

Can students do internship in the hospitals in home country ?
GMU does not allow internship in the hospitals in the home country of the student in order to make sure that students get a good clinical exposure in the modern sophisticated hospitals of GMU before he or she  becomes a qualified doctor to go to the home country.

Do students need to pass HSK(Chinese language Proficiency Test) to do internship in the 6th year  in the hospitals of GMU ?
Good communication skill with the patients is very essential in order to have good clinical practice to be a well qualified doctor. The MOE, China also stipulates it in its regulations for
“Interim Provisions for Quality Control Standards on Undergraduate Medical Education in English for International Student in China”
Foreign MBBS students for English medium must pass HSK Exam before they enter the 6th year internship at GMU.

Is the MBBS degree of GMU in English medium recognized ?
In order that a medical degree is recognized in English medium is the home country or any country in the world , it must be first recognized by the government of the medical awarding country.
GMU has been recognized by MOE, China, to recruit and award MBBS degree in English medium.
GMU is listed in the “world Directory of Medical Schools “ published by WHO, The International Medical Education Directory (IMED) 'Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER).
GMU graduates are eligible to sit for USMLE of USA, PLAB of UK and Medical Council Examinations of  any country in the world.

Does GMU provide scholarship after enrollment in MBBS course in English medium ?
Foreign medical students after they have been enrolled the initial tuition fee for the MBBS course are eligible to receive scholarship for further study in MBBS depending their scores in exams and good behaviour.

How to pay fees to the university ?
Students must pay their tuition fee, hostel fee, registration fee, etc, related to GMU directly by account payee draft in the name of GMU or through TT in its account. GMU or Education Network Pvt. Ltd. Will not be responsible if the fees related to the university are paid to any individual or organization.

Can students stay outside the campus ?
MBBS foreign students must live in the dormitory of GMU during the whole course of study ?
