  Before merger, Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences used to be one of the 8 Key Medical Universities ranking 4th in China among all 118 medical Universities and institutes.

  No, In the year 2000, many top level medical universities, including Beijing Medical University, Shanghai Medical University and West China Medical University, were merged with other universities, so these top level medical schools were not considered in the separate ranking of medicine in the year 2001.For true reference, you should refer the “classified ranking” of the year 2000 because in this year’s ranking only, all the medical universities and institutes were considered for the ranking.   Sun Yat-Sen College of Medical Sciences has been running medical study up to Masters Level in English medium for its students since the year 1978.

  No, because the university has highly qualified permanent faculties mostly educated and trained abroad. We arenot among the local Medical colleges in China which do not have the faculties of their own to teach foreign students in English medium and for that reason need to hire temporary short term teachers(some of them are lowly qualified, just MBBS degree holders) to teach foreign students.
How long has Sun Yat-sen College of Medical Sciences been enrolling foreign students?
  Sun Yat-sen College of Medical Sciences has been enrolling International students under Chinese government Scholarship and self finance since the year 1954 for MBBS while it began to enroll International postgraduate students since 1987, including doctorate candidates.

As a particular example, Nepalese students for MBBS as well as post graduate studies have been enrolled since 1970’s. Many Nepalese graduates of this medical college are working in different hospitals in Nepal and abroad. At present 12 Nepalese students are doing their MD/MS studies along with many other MBBS fellow Nepalese students under Chinese government Scholarship.
